Children's Books ...
... at the Salon du Livre et Papiers Anciens--a wonderful trade fair for "Books and Old Papers" at the Espace Champerret on the outskirts of Paris. It was huge this year--I counted 105 merchants on the guide handed out. They offer everything imaginable, from visiting cards to large posters, through postcards and every sort of book. This was one of the more colorful tables; I was struck by Der Struwwelpeter (on the right)--a classical German children's book from 1845 ("Peter with a mop of hair" would be a rough translation). I bought four items; most substantial is a 200-page book from 1973 on the history of all 32 (!) bridges in Paris, filled with all sorts of illustrations. The extra is the cover. I had a great time.
