Happy Birthday, Jeremy!

As Myles Dungan would say: Jeremy Bentham, author, philosopher, utilitarian, originator of the panopticon, and auto-icon was born 270 years ago today.

I studied at University College London in the 80's and would often pass the preserved Bentham sitting in his glass box in the South Cloisters. I took this picture on my last visit back in 2013.

He's going on tour to the US shortly.
