Day 11
Something Blue
Arran lies 22 miles across the Firth Of Clyde.
There is a saying in Troon; If you can see Arran, It's going to rain. If you can't see it, it already is.
But when you can see it, it's always beautiful. Always different. Always something to gaze at.
We look at it, straight on. West coast to West Coast. Slightly further up the coast, As the land curves west ward, you look down from north East across it.
It has the name "The Sleeping Warrior". Really, it can't be seen from here - but it can from further up. I don't think many people have actually considered the position of the sleeping warrior, they just accept it's name.
My nant asked my mum recently, "why do they call it the sleeping warrior", Mum replied, "well, I think that's his head. I think that is his hands resting on his chest, and that....."
And Nant popped up "his willy".
Aye, that'll be my Nant.
ps I loved theway the clouds formed a echo of the hill shape here - thisi why in Troon we miss a lot of the rain which hits to the south of us and to the higher north. It all empties over Arran first.
