Forthquarter Park

Today we did another of our 'bus route walks'. Our 'bus route walks' involve us jumping on a bus and going to the terminus and then walking home. This afternoon we jumped on a No. 38 bus and went to West Granton.

When we got off the bus Ann said, 'Molly, lets have a walk through Forthquarter Park before we start our trek home because we've never been in this park before.' I got all excited because I thought I'd be getting let off my lead to do some running/rolling about on the grass and some splish, splash, sploshing in the ponds. I even thought I might be able to do some duck and swan chasing.

…..........But do you know what happened?...................... Ann said, 'Molly, I'm keeping you on your lead because approximately a year ago I read an article about dogs dying after they had been playing in this park. You are not going to swim. You are not going to roll on the grass. And you are not going to eat anything you find lying about. In other words you are not going to have any fun!'

It was built on the old gasworks site and environmental health officers were carrying out investigations into whether it was contaminated. Anyway there doesn't seem to have been any more updates re this worrying story and we saw a few dogs having a play off lead so we're assuming all is good now??? But Ann wasn't taking any chances. You can read the full story here.

We walked 5.3 miles home and I've gone straight into my bed. I'm exhausted. I haven't even looked at my dinner. And now Ann is in 'neurotic collie dog owner mode' because she thinks there is something wrong with me??

PS – I'm pretty clever so I know if I stay in my bed for another hour or so, Ann will try and tempt me out with little bits of cheese. Yum, yum!
