Tonle Sap
Tonle Sap is South East Asia's largest freshwater lake, exending to 12,000 sq, km in the wet season. In the dry season, as now, it shrinks to around 2,500 sq km. On the banks of the river which feeds the lake, the houses are built on tall stilts to stand clear of the flood water. There are a number of floating villages on the lake, which move according to the season and the water levels.
We enjoyed a boat trip out to one of the floating villages and to watch the fishermen at work.
