Chester - Day 3

Actually this should be titled Liverpool as that is where we went for the day. The trains run every fifteen minutes from Chester so for a tenner return for the two of us with our railcard we went.

The last (first) time we had been to Liverpool a year or two back we had not made it to the Walker Art Gallery so that was our goal. Although the weather stayed dry it was a very cold and windy day so inside a gallery was fine, we only ventured out to find lunch which was at a Thai restaurant called Yee Rah in the heart of the city centre pedestrian area. We had an very nice vegetable noodle dish with spring rolls.

The plan was then to do a tour of St George's Hall or go back to the gallery, we did neither as the weather was so inclement and we didn't want to get caught up in the commuters train journey home. A good excuse to come back again.

Before tea we crossed the canal, on a bridge, to visit an excellent real ale pub, The Old Harkers Arms, a converted canal fronting warehouse, with a great range of beers.

The photo is taken through one of the windows of the Walker Art Gallery showing the Waterloo Memorial with the Duke of Wellington on top, and the Empire Theatre.
