Life from city to village

Sunrise

I was up early, dropping the car off for a service and MOT, then walking back across the city. It was freezing cold, there has been a hard frost overnight.

Of course I took the camera with me... this is taken at the top of the hill as I climbed up out of Meanwood valley. Interestingly, project 2 in this book I am looking at (Why Photographers Prefer Cloudy Days by Haje Jan Kamps), is about a sunrise / sunset. He talks about the need to under expose to bring out the colour; which is what I have done here. I always start by using the area around the sun for the metering.

There is always something lovely about being able to take a picture of a sunrise or sunset. It's like compensation for the colder weather.
