Stealth & Arrows

Backblipped on 20th October 2012

Today Scharwenka and I went to RIAT at Fairford. It was an excellent day, although physically tiring - Scharwenka had hurt his shoulder so I did much of the carrying - including inadvertently lugging the freezer bricks from the car park to the runway! Oops!

However, it was a great day, which seems a long time ago now. I particularly remember the Ospreys, some great display flying by various teams, and, of course, the wonderful Vulcan XH558, who I've blipped in the past.

We had a fine picnic lunch, then went for a wander round the show, taking the shuttle bus up to the far end of the runway to see this wonderful Stealth bomber - and I was lucky enough to get a shot of the Red Arrows flying overhead!

After the show we picked up the Wonderspouse, who'd been reading poetry at a nearby festival - it had been in a tent, and they'd been constantly disrupted in their poetic endeavours by a load of noisy aeroplanes! Ha!

It was a great day out. The weather was much kinder than it should have been, and I believed at the time that life was getting back on track again. I told Scharwenka that I'd be starting to find work the following week, and arranged to see him for a birthday lunch after going to a temping agency and signing on, and e-mailing some contacts I'd made.

Even the Wonderspouse said I was looking and sounding relaxed.

Lovely day out with the wonderful planes!
