Cake!!

Book club today —  two have birthdays this week—one a valentine birthday— so after lunch snacks and much catch up talk about everyone’s good and bad and moving plans, and few solutions to problems, we had not 1 but 2 cakes!!   Marzipan and flourless chocolate.   YUM!!!     Why not? 
We saved some (less than usual if truth be told) time to talk about the book,The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet by David Mitchell, a historical novel about the Dutch East India Trading company in Japan about 1800 and the story of one young Dutch accountant.  Lots of characters and a bit of a shocking tale. (Margaret Atwood like….) 

And now we are packing up for the Island tomorrow.  Very ready for it!
