Bonding
In the fading light of dusk a group of mute swans were gathered together on the bank, grunting gently to each other in a companionable way. They let me join them, and I stood quietly for a while, just watching. Two pairs were indulging in some gentle courtship, gracefully mirroring each others actions. One pair slid into the water (see extra) which is where I'm used to seeing the mating ritual. But this pair remained on the bank, alternately strengthening their pair bond and spending a little time grazing .
I'm not really sure whether this image qualifies for this week's MonoMonday theme of 'silhouette' - it's possibly more of an anti-silhouette! Thanks to KangaZu for hosting.
