OFA Day 2, Kentmere
Despite a terrible forecast the group managed to get outside for a 3 hour scenarios session that contained a little bit of everything we needed.
A sharp wind and snow flurries at incident one had the emergency shelter and insulation layers out, our 'incident leader' assessing, taking charge & getting into action super fast, within minutes everyone was warmer, the casualty perked up, and we had a really good discussion on kit selection.
Scenario two saw some great leadership and confidence building, with the candidates now confident enough to get their groups involved in the Cpr process.
By scenario three they were making tough choices: delaying Cpr in order to log roll the casualty onto an improvised stretcher and then move everyone 20m to safety to avoid (hypothetical) rock fall. Impossible to do without leadership and communication.
When we stopped for coffee and reviewing and some additional skills, we were treated to some blue sky above (yet another of Lakeland's many) Raven Crag.
You'll get a taste of the day, and quite possibly a laugh here
