Heron on a pole
It is a regular visitor, along with others, to the school garden behind us. They like to sit on a tall fence put up by one neighbour who reckoned kids were throwing stuff over the fence. Its only good point is that herons sit on it preening, sunning and checking the coast is clear before popping down to eat whatever they find there.
After heavy rain and flooding in the garden and our back yard there should be lots of things.
I liked the way as he drew up his leg the feathers ruffled. Against a grey sky that quickly turned blue and stayed that way. The atmosphere like an oven.
An extra showing a more zoomed out view which is more like what the naked eye sees.
I have done little else today other than line up our arguments for the high school board of trustees who have invited us to a meeting tonight to discuss our flooding worries. 15 years is far too long. Ok it isn't every day, week or even month but what was an annual event on average now occurs at least three times a year and along with the neighbours we will voice our opinions tonight.
