Bridges

A glorious day for our flight to Oslo.  The view of the 3 Fourth bridges was great despite being through the plane window. Unlikely to get such a view again for a while so this makes the blip.

As we headed up Scotland also got a lovely view of Loch Leven with snow on the higher levels.

Oslo was snowy and we flew in through cloud, suddenly flying over forests of tall snow-laden Christmas trees.

Saw for the first time their system of notifying transit customers that their baggage had been cleared:  Under the flight arrival time, when your bags have cleared the first three letters of your first name  and surname appear.  So was pleased to see  Boy.... Mca ........ appear.  But then my wife's initials did not come up and we then spent an hour getting her luggage - which should have been booked through - back together.  But all sorted in good time ahead of our next flight.

Another first was -see extra - having the plane de-iced - apparently standard practice when flying at night in winter here.

An army of various trucks surrounded the de-icing centre and as a plane pulled up they moved in a coordinated balletic -and slightly threatening way - towards their prey.  All very quick and efficient.

Arrived in the Arctic Circle at Tromso more or less on time and once settled into our hotel went out for a bite to eat.  Prices are  higher and at £50 a bottle of wine in a modest Italian restaurant I suspect the  level of wine consumption will be limited.  Just under half a litre of beer - £7.50.

We then walked round the centre before turning in.  -5oC; still and clear.  And caught a glimpse of the high bridge in Tromso.   So hoping that tomorrow will be good for our first trip.
