Sgwarnog: In the Field

Noon

Most new build, somewhat out of town stadia lose the romance of being tucked in among the terraced houses. At Huddersfield there is at least a remnant of that, from this view down Town Terrace anyway.

A noon kick-off meant meant I had to forgo much of a Sunday lie-in, although not to the degree of the Bournemouth fans who had, we were informed, boarded their coaches at 1:45 am.

Huddersfield have been struggling of late, coming into the game having lost their last five league games, but had managed a cup win in mid-week. Conversely, Bournemouth have been a good run, including a 3-0 victory over Chelsea, so would have been confident ahead of the match.

The Terriers took an early lead but the Cherries soon equalised. The afternoon was oscillating between bright sunshine and snow squalls (extras) but both teams maintained high energy levels. A second goal for Huddersfield arrived near the half-hour followed by two more in the second half: an emphatic 4-1 win for the home team. That also made fourteen goals in the three games that I've seen in the past week.

An early kick-off also meant an early finish so I wandered the back streets and canals for a couple of hours before heading home. A couple of weeping ghosts and a scene of political intrigue were highlights of the walk.
