Night out at the ballet
Friday
Great night out at Cincinnati Ballet at Music Hall. There were two greatly contrasting ballets on the program - the first one Serenade, set to Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings, a beautiful, classical type ballet, then the second was a new setting to Orff’s Carmina Burana, a collaborative project with Ballet West based in Salt Lake City, and choreographed by their Nicolo Fonte. The chorus was provided by the May Festival Chorus, seated on an arched platform at the back of the stage. The dancing was contemporary, striking and powerful, and the costumes stunning. I love the music anyway, so it was an altogether amazing performance for me! My blip is some costumes from past productions on display in the lobby.
