An ordinary life....

Seeing Triple...

I downloaded a photo editing app to my phone ages ago but have never used it...until today.

Took a snap of the three tiny little wooden houses that sit on our sideboard and decided to see what the app could do.  I quite liked this effect so there you have it.

Agata was here this afternoon doing some more training with Lola.  Her hobby is photography and I've been trying to persuade her to join blip but no luck so far.  She's just so busy I think she feels she doesn't have time.  I'll keep working on her though.

This evening I got a lovely surprise as I got a message from my friend Fiona asking if she could come and stay for a couple of nights.  She's been living down under (first Australia now New Zealand) since the 1990s but she's just arrived home for a few months to spend time with her mum and dad.  I am looking forward to spending time with her but hadn't expected to see her so soon so was delighted to get her message.  Can't wait to see her! :-))

A book I had pre-ordered arrived today - How to Break up with your Phone by Catherine Price.

I have become increasingly annoyed and alarmed by how much time I spend on my phone and other devices, and read an article recently about how spending so much time on said devices can affect your concentration levels (amongst other things) and I know this is true as I can hardly get through a magazine, never mind a book, without looking at my phone.  And I am not alone.

I've been conducting a little study of my own since the start of the year, just quietly observing how people interact with their phones (that includes family and friends and strangers in public places such as restaurants) and we are all doing it.  In fact I would go as far as say that just about every family member or friend I've spent time with since 1st January, is addicted to their devices, be it phones or iPads.  I even have family members who bring both with them when they visit.  Interestingly the only ones who aren't are John and Norma and Lillemor and Derek.  There's something to be said for being over 75!

I can't wait to read it and plan to start straight away.  Well as soon as I've uploaded my blip, checked Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, emails, WhatsApp, BBC News and weather, texts and messenger.  Oh and conquered the next level in Candy Crush.
