There are, I understand, two key reasons for knowing about Ecclefechan.

One: The Ecclefechan Tart, and Two: The birth-place of Thomas Carlyle.

Having failed to score any Ecclefechan Tart last night, I thought I needed to at least pay a fleeting visit to Carlyle's birthplace before I continued my drive south.
