Pompom
Another wet Saturday so it was a good day to finish my hat by making the finishing touch - the pompom! Last night I looked up how to make pompoms and decided to use a slightly new technique to me - one which involves using two loo rolls to make the initial ball, then sandwiching the pompom between two circles of card so as to trim the bobble to make it tighter/more dense in form than if you just wrap the wool around circular pieces of card. I'm really pleased with how the hat has turned out, especially the cabling. In Extras you can see the hat I made last week - it is just a simple purl knit. I think it will be a good hat to wear when I go to my allotment as its not fluffy wool so my head doesn't get too warm when wearing it.
Other than making a pompom, we've been to arrange to have someone come to measure up our living room curtains (now that we have chosen some material) and visited the little art gallery in the village and chosen a print to have framed for our bedroom. Andy has made leek and potato soup and is now listening to the football and making a pork and prune stew for dinner. I've also constructed a chair to go in the spare bedroom that we have set up as a quiet room/reading room.
I hope your day have been bright and merry - best wishes to you all x
