Birthday food

L and I went out this evening to celebrate our good friend J's birthday. Although the actual day isn't until later in the month, she and G are off for an overseas holiday and so some friends gathered tonight in the Cafe Royal for a few drinks. Later, six of us went to an excellent Indian restaurant on Nicholson Square. One of those unlikely looking places that has the feeling of being a bit of a hidden gem, and it was somewhere new to me. We went on the strong recommendation of one of the group, B, an Edinburgh tour guide who clearly knows his stuff! However it clearly has a (well-deserved) reputation as they had various newspaper cuttings and a national curry award up on the wall. This is the table groaning under all the food we ordered - perhaps we did slightly over-order!! An excellent evening, and we look forward to meeting up with J and G again when they get back to hear their stories of their trip, and see their pictures!
