"The Perfect Straight Left"
Along the pedestrians-only shopping streets of Cardiff, Wales there is a lot of public sculpture in bronze. One of the more charming is a monument to the featherweight champion boxer "Peerless Jim Driscoll" (1880-1925), who lived and died in the city's Newtown area. This is a panel on one side of the plinth.
Jim Driscoll was a local hero who died at age 44 of tuberculosis. His funeral brought over 100,000 mourners into Cardiff's streets.
