Up the Close

The Scots word for alleyway is a 'close' (pronounced like the word for near, not the word for shut). This is Millers Close in Dalkeith, next to the bookshop where B and I splurged on books this afternoon, before walking through the woods to the Restoration Yard for a cup of tea. We were even brave enough to walk back through the woods after dark, telling each other stories to keep us from being afraid. It felt like a little adventure!
