A seat in the wall
Not sure how comfortable it would be. There are a few such seats in the wall at Hopetoun House. I was lucky enough to have a walk there today even though the house and grounds are closed to the public for winter. The view of the bridges (extra) is wonderful.
The Scottish Conservation Studio is based at Hopetoun. I took my two ambrotype photographs there this morning for advice. Happily the photograph conservator can repair, restore and generally make them safe for the next 170 years.
What an interesting place with so much skilful and painstaking work going on. I was shown a map from the 1770s being repaired and some old chalk portraits being cleaned and reframed. Fascinating. Also fascinating how people get into work like this.
I will Blip the ambrotypes when I have them back with a bit more information, I hope, about their provenance.
