Best fall ever ...
The little mass of flopped body is my baby sister in law .. if only I had gotten my phone out in time .. let me set the scene .. The dream team set off (Myself ,Lucy and SIL) on our own as SIL is a beginner and had a days lesson at Tamworth ski dome .. Lucy and I are vaguely competent (ha ha )so we go on my favourite route which is very very gentle (we’ve been here twice before) and we laugh gaily and merrily .. then we spot a child’s play park in the woodlands so we ski into it .. THIS IS NOT FOR BEGINNERS .. no !! It’s a bloody obstacle course for humans who can really ski .. but we don’t realise this until our THIRD trip to it .. we’ve not read the sign about DANGER . We thought it said ‘come in and take photos of the wooden woodland sculptures ‘.. we were trying to get around the woods without falling over hence the three trips .. so Bebe SIL comes flying in the trees at what is surely 67miles per hour and her skis go up the bank .. I know it’s happening from the gentle wail she is omitting (like dolphin sonar) and I whip my camera out to see the most graceful collapse ever .. upon knowing she is going to fall she simply raises her arms and flops backwards .. yes she winded herself but oh my god it was funny .. the man in the bushes who was an instructor for another real skiing person was very concerned and came to her aid ..shortly after this Lucy who I might say is very gung ho about skiing fell at speed and the safely nets stoped her slithering over a small but nasty drop (only about 2 metres but there are trees you could damage ) ..
Then on our way back lucy skis between two people who suddenly decide to have a chat and move closer together just as Lucy passes them they turn in rapidly which results in lucy doing the triple salco and a sort of cartwheel AND she takes out the two chatty women .. served them right for bad skiing etiquette and stopping to talk about goulash and seasoning it !!!! Lucy was fine and she was up and off ..
tomorrow (Friday ) we have a whole day with an instructor ...
