See the light

"A meeting is an event which a group of people come together to discuss things or make decisions."  - Collins dictionary

The second time this week that the teaching day ended with an hour of Drear, this time in the form of an event called 'full faculty staff meeting' which is a euphemism for a group of tired teachers attempting to absorb a constant stream of information from various presenter disseminators who then promise to send the information again, via email,  thus surely, rendering the meeting superfluous? This made me ponder the purpose of such events until I realised that the point must surely be to provide incentive for the usual suspects to gather for informal analysis over a pint at Bizim Tepe.  And thus it was.  The light bulb suspended above our table provided illumination for today’s abstract image whilst we enthusiastically and successfully lowered the tone of conversation from academic achievement statistics to more important topics.
