Veteran

A cold and very frosty start this morning. I decided to walk the route of my butterfly transect on Markstakes common.This huge veteran oak marks the transition from one habitat section (open grassland) to another (coppiced hornbeam woodland) and is estimated to be  402 years old (two years ago I was told it was 400 years old).
