A New (Ad)venture
Maybe this is an especially dry year in the area, but water tables have dropped dramatically. In the immediate vicinity of where we have lands, five pumps , installed in the past year, by an organisation who claim to be very reputable, have run dry, leaving the people in a worse state than they already were.
Fact is , the wells were too shallow in the first place. We are very much the new kids on the block, without religious or evangelistic motives and a little looked down on!! Sorry its my Friday rant, but we have a new well digging drill on its maiden voyage here. It is a king of percussion/rota sludge weapon. The drill bit is lifted by a rope and pulley, then dropped from a height and eventually after maybe 15 metres we will hit plenty of cool, clean, safe drinking water, but we go a few more metres to be sure, to be sure. We then line the well with plastic, fit our pump and WOW!! clean water changes everything.
This was my first attempt at a prototype. It needs some modifications and it will do the job. An alternative to digging a well 20 metres deep, safer and hopefully a cheaper bottom line (costing less).
Our cost at the moment is about 1 Euro per person. That is water for life at about a Euro, the price of a bottle of water in the shop.
