Looking ahead to spring

Work party with Butterfly Conservation near Farleton this morning, clearing gorse and bramble (why are the plants we want to cut always the prickly ones?) for violets to grow and fritillary butterflies to bathe in the sunshine in the spring. Here's hoping.
The extra is the fungus Daldinia fissa on the gorse.
