The Nîmes crocodile commemorated in pavement

Wikipedia: "The contemporary coat of arms of the city of Nîmes includes a crocodile chained to a palm tree." This is to commemorate Julius Caesar's granting of land in the plain of Nîmes to soldiers who had served him faithfully during his Nile campaigns. More info here.
These brasses are about 7cm across, and are set into the streets all over the central city and they are, to the say the least, charming.
The motif itself is found all over the town's public buildings, its transport, bridges and so on.
