Pochote

Also known as ceiba and kapok, there are several varieties of pochote trees in Mexico, particularly along the west coast. I know I have posted photos of this before, but it's one of my favorites! I have not seen one with such defined cotton balls making up the large balls, which hang from extremely thorny branches (extra). The tree does not have leaves at this time, so these cotton balls are quite easy to see.
