A DAB HAND

This wrinkly old fellow is full of great memories.
He can still remember how to splice a rope, roll a joint & help throw a good pot.
He can still remember all the tunes I used to play better than my brain, even if he can't actually play them any more.
He can guide a chisel so as to take off a tenth of a millimetre of wood without damaging the varnish.
