big'm fish

This giant pacu was going to be either euthanized or released (illegally) into the wild. Dr P rescued it but it is way too big for our 55gal aquarium. I'll let you know what transpires, but for now we've brought one of the horse watering troughs in from the barn and the giant creature is safe so far.

I am fascinated by embryology, and it amazes me to observe the similarities between humans and fish, even though we are separated by hundreds of millions of years of evolution. Note the two eyes, the singular mouth, the pectoral and caudal fins that evolved to hands and feet, the backbone (vertebrates we are) and internal foldings and structures including the brain (wherein lies the soul??)
