Crispy Seaweed

The most beautiful morning I've seen for a long time.  A really crisp frost, sparkling and sharp, the sun just starting to thaw the edges of the edges of the plants.  Wonderfully calm, although you could hear big waves breaking on the beach across the bay, the sound carrying over the water.

J came along with Scratch and visiting dog, Mollie, so it was a three dog walk.  Luckily they all get on and are very good together.  Mollie was a little too interested in Bonny the Bantam.  She insisted on staring at her through the window, obviously completely bemused by her!

Later Mike and I went over to Peridot.  He took the dinghy, Ollie and I took the car then walked down the field.  We took the sails, booms and the mizzen mast off her and will go back to take the main mast off tomorrow and bring them all back on the trailer.

Peridot will stay there until the farmer can lift her back into the water, but she is really fine and safe where she is.  It was incredible seeing her so perfectly sound, just high up on the shore!  The cabin was dry, everything was exactly as it should have been, the kettle still on the stove!  Mike thinks the reason that she came ashore was that the mooring chain was just too short.  Storm Caroline, combined with the high tide, lifted Peridot, and her mooring, and deposited her up on the shore!

A great day, tiring, but a lot accomplished!  A bit of frost and sunshine, a lack of wind and rain, and everything seems so much better!
