Favourite breadboard
Listening to the radio this morning, my ears pricked up when I heard about a breadboard museum in Putney. Have a listen to: Breadboard musem on R4 . Mr A thinks me rather strange, as I have a "bit of a thing" about vintage breadboards, so he is always complaining that I have far too many. But to me, they tell happy stories of family tea times...and I'm sure the old ones have probably survived wartime bombings. What tales they could tell...!
Anyway, this gnarly old one is very well worn (well loved) and was picked up in my favourite place - Bourne Mill Antiques (the one that suffered the dreadful fire in 2015) a number of years ago. As you can see, it has seen some action and is slightly warped, so doesn't sit quite flat on the table, but it's lovely for all its faults. When My Boy asked me (hypothetically) what I would rescue from the house if we ever suffered a fire...I replied that I should want to rescue this breadboard. For some reason, he thought I had lost the plot with that answer. Needless to say, I always choose this breadboard when I serve up homemade bread.
Thought for the day:
"Make a list of the things that make you happy. Make a list of the things you do everyday. Compare the lists. Adjust accordingly." (Unknown)
