The Onlooker.
A group of us from the Rotary club went for a delightful walk in the winter sunshine this afternoon starting at the village cross in Auchtermuchty where we stopped to look at the interesting old date stone from 1827 ( see extra). This presumably was where fairs and markets were held and no doubt fees collected.
Muchty as we call it is probably best know as the home of the late Jimmy Shand, the virtuoso of the button accordion, and to younger generations as the previous home of the Proclaimers.
We then walked to Muchty Common - an area of common grazing going back a few centuries and as we discovered still used for grazing sheep although they mostly seemed to be breeds more associated with the outer islands of Scotland. They were obviously used to seeing humans and stood watching as we walked past. I liked the way this one was showing off its lower incisors ! ( they don't have upper incisors )
