Le vin nouveau est arrivé

No need to wait for that insipid beaujolais nouveau in November; our new wine is available now! It's always released on the third Thursday of October, so I got home just in time to pick some up. The short timescale means it was bottled within the last couple of days, so it's generally advisable to let it sit for a day or two to recover before drinking it. As usual, the label for our cave coopérative's primeur was designed by the children at the primary school, who also got a tour of the cave and a taste of the (unfermented) grape juice.

Speaking of needing a day or two to recover, I may need that after a day during which I spent about 6 hours driving. I'm posting after midnight because I just got back from the second choir concert, in Quillan. In stark contrast to the last concert, refreshments consisted of room-temperature blanquette de Limoux and a few packets of biscuits. The concert went well, but Quillan is a bit of a dreary place, and an hour and a half's drive from home. I took some photos there, but it was a grey, damp day, and they didn't do it any favours!
