Sad day

Today we woke early with a long drive ahead. Henry was at a friend's and so I picked him up about 10.30 while Jon walked the dog. By 11.30 we were on the road to Hoddesdon.

Yesterday afternoon, we received the sad and devastating news that Jim had passed away. Peacefully and with all his closest family around him. This gentle private man, who I have know since I was 16, and a loving husband to Jon's eldest sister Jenny, lost his brave and short fight with the most evil of diseases. Today as a family we have found comfort in a day spent together at Winterscroft Road, and we have shared funny, moving and happy memories, through tears and laughter, of a much loved son, husband, brother, dad and loyal friend. It has been difficult. It has been emotional. It has been needed. There will be ups and downs, but always there will support and togetherness. There are few families as close and we will be here for each other through this.
