Storm in an imaginary teacup.
There was a bit of a stooshie recently in the Scottish Parliament, with a leader of a political party blaming the current First Minister for flying the Royal Standard of Scotland (remains of which is on the right) instead of the Union Jack (on the left) on Royal Occasions from Scottish Government buildings, as apparently occurs in other parts of the United Kingdom. Although where, precisely this was, wasn't quite made clear as most of those buildings only fly the Union Jack anyway????)
As some people know, when the Queen is in residence at a palace, the Royal Standard of the United Kingdom is flown (which includes Holyrood Palace and Balmoral Castle) The Union Jack flown at the palaces where the Queen is not in residence.
Of course, I don't know why not flying the Union Jack matters I don't know. Unfortunately, it was a previous First Minister who made that decision, and not the current one, so much embarrassment there. And, as it turns out, that this policy of flying the Royal Standard of Scotland on these occasions was done with agreement from the Queen.
Definitely a storm in the imaginary teacup.
