Recurring

In dreams, you never leave or say it's over;
I just become invisible,
Placed behind a blank wall of indifference.
I watch you stare past me at parties,
I try to catch you up on busy pavements,
I call out your name, bemused.
But you have moved on,
Consigned me to a parallel universe,
Nothing nasty, just ambivalence.

And when I wake up,
Drenched in imaginary sorrow,
I remain indistinct.
