Dry skies...almost.
Blue skies on awakening meant cycle time. Hurray. Cabin fever has threatened so it was nice to explore the backroads of East lothian.
Spotted 1 squashed frog, 1 road kill pheasant, 1 hairy caterpillar (alive-I swerved to avoid it had almost made it to safety) a buzzard (alive) two men in tweeds, moustaches and shotguns, countless pheasants (alive if they managed to stay away from the men in tweeds, and a some intriguing birds I will look up when home.
Whilst berating myself for cutting my route a little short after i saw the clouds, as i skimmed the edge of the rain taking a mild dousing, and looked back from whence I came I was pleased I'd made the right decision.
40miles done amongst puddles and Autumn golds I arrived at North Berwick for a delightful tea and sherry fest with Archie and family.
Salvaged my wet and lost holiday I think.
