I've just finished knitting my first hat! I'm pleased with it. It fits reasonably well and it looks okay too. I need to shape it properly with some damp clothes so will try doing that tomorrow. I'm getting quite a collection of knitting needles. I like the wooden ones the best. Some I have bought, others are from Mum's collection. She must have had many at one time as she was an avid knitter but there were just a few pairs in her needle box when I started taking care of it. That box is a treasure trove of lovely things - buttons, pins of all sorts, elastic, scissors, thimbles, cottons, chalk marker - I love dipping into it and it always brings back happy memories of her sitting in the evening working away at a garment with the box at her feet.
It felt quite springlike this morning but by lunchtime when I popped out for a walk the sunshine had faded and it was quite overcast. An interesting day at work as we had a burst water main which resulted in the water being turned off all day. The building had to be closed as we had no functioning toilets, although we managed to get a supply of bottled water for drinking. I stayed on but quite a lot of people went home to work instead. It was fantastic to have some peace and quiet to have a productive meeting with a colleague and then to get on with some work - I find it so much easier to concentrate when it is calm around me.
Wishing you all a lovely Friday evening.
