Flooding

I was surprised to see water in the Estuary up to the road when I reached the bottom of Maffeys Road this morning.  I was even more surprised to see water right across the road a little further along.  The bus ploughed through, but several cars turned around.

I guess the combination of extreme low pressure from the storm that hit yesterday along with king tides caused the extreme high tide.  We missed most of the effects of the storm, fortunately.  Nelson and the West Coast seem to have borne the brunt of the weather.
