Via Chicago @JeffTweedy

Well OK, via Dublin on his 4 date mini-tour.

We went to see Jeff Tweedy tonight, the main songster in my favourite band Wilco who are based in Chicago. Actually, anything Jeff does is my favourite and we've trailed around the country to see him since 1997, mainly Glasgow. He was the reason we started going to the Green Man festival in Wales as tours are 3-5 years between!

But tonight, going solo, he came to Edinburgh, a stone's throw away. What a treat, it felt like he was performing in my own living room... Jeff, in Edinburgh.. ahhh... ok calm yourself down man eh, there's people reading this! We heard the last time he was in town was in 1993 with his then band Uncle Tupelo... but I was in a musical wilderness in those days...

It was fab, so funny too... and we even had a fight. 6 years ago at the Wilco Glasgow gig (in the posh Royal Concert Hall), there was a fight up in the gallery, it was funny but spooked the band (why would you fight at a Wilco gig?). I listened to a recording of the gig the next night in Manchester where he joked about it. 3 years ago he returned to the same venue with his band Tweedy and joked about that fight. Tonight, he was saying how well behaved we were compared to Glasgow... and then towards the end a fight kicks off.. perfect... he joked he was complete now.

But not even all that... Mrs C and myself had a wee drinkie... how would we get home... we shouldn't be driving... yes, you guessed it... no you didn't, you've stopped reading 3 paragraphs ago, Ms H was with us and drove us home... yeehah... finally all that work and money we put in paid off... a perfect night, no?
