Urban Architecture (widwed310118)
Warwick and Leamington are about as urban as it gets in South Warwickshire, without travelling into Coventry. As there is some redevelopment work going on in the middle of Warwick I took a walk around in the late afternoon. This is actually a piece of development from the 60s or 70s when an old area, rather like The Shambles in York, was taken down and rebuilt with, what then, would have been modern shops and offices. It looks quite sad now compared to the surviving old Tudor and Georgian buildings but easy to critisize with the benefit of hindsight?
Barrak St Carpark is the bottom third of the blip, the upper floors were the library and above that, offices for the local council. The library has moved to a smaller space in Shire Hall and the whole of the upper section is now offices.
I'm away to work overnight, so I'll go through the entires for Wide Wednesday tomorrow evening and award the favourites and honourable mentions.
