To The Edge Of His Comfort Zone & Beyond

An interesting evening at the yard as one of the women there, a very experienced rider called Hannah, offered to help with Milo as she liked working with youngsters and I am happy for any help offered as I took Milo on knowing full well I wouldn’t be able to do it otherwise.

Well it didn’t quite go to plan as Milo struggled with a different person, riding in a different way and at one point he positively ‘exploded’ with her, when she came off she got straight back on, completely un-phased by it all. Eventually he calmed down and all of a sudden he relaxed and started going amazing. Luckily no one was hurt and that last bit of ‘amazing’ she got from him meant that she’s keen to carry on and is going to ride him again for me tomorrow and at the weekend.

There was no malice in Milo’s reaction and it was not due to him being in any pain so it was a “what the heck, I don’t like this” reaction. We are hoping now that he realises that it’s all ok and he learns to trust us and deal with whatever comes his way as he won’t get hurt or be in danger..we will see what the next few weeks bring as Hannah is going to keep pushing him to the edge of his comfort zone and sometimes beyond.

It’s nice to see the Rosemary starting to produce new growth, but we probably could have done with relaxing lavender after this evening’s excitement.
