Abbot Hall

Today's the day ........................... for a local exhibition

We're very lucky to have the Lakeland Arts Trust doing its good work around here.

Yesterday, we paid a visit to Blackwell - the Arts & Crafts House - overlooking Windermere and today we paid a visit to the Abbot Hall Art Gallery in Kendal.

There were lots of paintings and other works of art to see - notably the masterpiece by Claude Monet 'Haystacks: Snow Effect' on loan from National Galleries of Scotland, Edinburgh for a while.  There was also another exhibition entitled - LAND SEA LIFE - of around 70 works by over 40 leading artists, including Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Graham Sutherland and Laura Knight, from the Ingram Collection.

And good also to go and have a cup of coffee and cake in the Bakestone Café - my first visit since its renovation following the bad floods two years ago.  It's all looking very smart .........................
