Tony and Irene Kalonji

Their son, who had bipolar disorder, was killed by sheriff's officers who answered the family's call for help. Tony and Irene say the police murdered Christopher. No one has ever been held accountable for his death. Irene has become an activist, joining with other parents of murdered children in an effort to convince police departments to train cops to deal less violently with people who are having mental health crises. Yesterday was the two-year anniversary of their son's death, and they held a vigil yesterday and a protest in front of the sheriff's office today. About fifteen people joined them.
