Another Feathered Friend

Dear Diary,

There is something so endearing about a nuthatch, especially how they hop head first down a tree.  I was able to get a good look at this one while he enjoyed the suet cake.  I never noticed the golden yellow feathers under his tail before.  Observing nature everyday, you keep learning things about  things you thought you knew.  I can see why Thoreau was so enthralled.

Our temperatures have moderated just a bit.  It was 42F yesterday and this morning it is 20F.  A far cry from the -28F it was a few weeks ago, I'll take it.  Looks like it will be relatively storm free for most of the week too.  I will be attending the annual  "gathering of cousins" in New Hampshire on Wednesday through Friday and I can't wait.  None of us are getting any younger and getting together has become more and more important to us.  I predict lots of laughter and love in the offing!
