Compulsory culture acquirement today for 20 teenagers by taking them to my favourite Den Haag art lair - Gemeentemusuem - which even after six years of visiting the place I still cannot pronounce. Anyway, the usual jaunt around my favourite haunt brought me the delights of this Dutch ceramicist, Hans de Jong (1932-2011). It's been a while since I saw an artefact that I yearned to own, but certainly this one ticks that box. Made in 1979, a great decade for ceramics-as-Art, rather than decorative-but-useful. Want. It.
After all this culture it was time to go to down town Hague with my colleague and wander, without the kids, who went off to do their own thing for a few hours.
