a table for one

I watched as this black capped chickadee took a seed from the feeder and flew to the pine tree to eat it. At first it was perched on the branch, but found it too cumbersome to hold on and to hold the seed in its toes at the same time. Soon it hopped to this smaller perch, situated the seed between its toes,  and enjoyed pecking away at the seed until it was all gone.
