Birthday Treat
2years 362days
VERY exciting day today. We made today her "Birthday outing day" as her actual birthday will be spent at Church, getting ready and then party.
She had swimming this morning - she did brilliantly. She swam underwater through 5 hoops, coming up once for air! She was swimming loads. Her teachers have both recommended she be skipped through the first two preschool grades to Preschool 3. The receptionist wouldnt have any of it, mind, so we've got to sort that all out! Anyway, she's very excited at going in the water with her teacher and Mummy watching at the window.
After swimming, we got lunch in the canteen. She requested nuggets, beans and toast. With a starter of raisins. As you do. She ate most of it though! We then went on the train to the city and got ice cream for Katie, cup of tea for Mummy before we went to Katie's Birthday Treat.
Starlight Express. Katie's first musical. Which when Mummy was 10, was the first West End stage show I saw live. Katie's been to cinema, stage shows of tv shows, ballet, ice skating, pantomime. But this was her first musical. And what a show it was. It was BRILLIANT. She was a bit unsure at the very very beginning, but then really got into it. She did however manage a 15minute sleep not long before the interval. She woke up though and was in a great mood immediately. She clapped, she cheered, she waved, she explained what was going on in the story to me. We both loved it. I may have cried during the finale, as I often do when I see her so particularly excited at something like this. It was fab. We came out and she asked to go see Rusty and Pearl again.
To top the day off, after the show we were heading to collect Sarah our friend who has come to stay for a few days for Katie's birthday. Good day.
